Better Graduation Party Ideas
Graduation party ideas are plentiful. Yet despite the plentiful nature of the ideas it does seem hard to decide on the ones you will use. I have struggled each time our children have graduated to decide which party ideas to use. I look back and realize the mistakes I made should have been avoided. I sometimes wish I had a chance to do the graduation parties again. I started each time by deciding on the theme I wanted to use as I thought that I could reflect the personality of the graduate in the theme and that would drive all the other decisions I had to make. I then made each of the themes into a home party. I believed at the time that I would give a party for the graduate. I also wanted to keep costs to a minimum which meant the party decorations were not quite as good as they should have been. I am sure there were other mistakes I made but these are the ones that have stayed in my mind.
One of the things I wish I had done is to have the graduation party in conjunction with the school. This is a brilliant way of having a special party. There will be a good budget, a great venue and lots of keen party goers having fun. The school gym will make a great venue. It will be a blank canvass that you can decorate in any way you want. Our home was a good venue but it did have its limitations. Our backyard is small. The room sizes are good but it is hard to bring more than 20 people together. Dancing is very difficult to arrange. Whereas the school gym is better all round.
Looking back on the cost constraints I set, I wish I had been more ambitious. Graduation is one of the special moments in life. There are not too many opportunities to celebrate with your children and graduation is one of the best. For each of our graduates we thought we had set sensible budgets. Looking back I wish we had spent a bit more and made it all a bit more exciting.
However the things I really wished I had achieved as the party organiser centre on what kind of party I really would have worked to give the graduates. The party should have been vibrant, fun, with great music, entertainers, great food and a very friendly atmosphere. This kind of party needs the parents and the school to work together. I believe if we had done this we would have looked at the kinds of venues available. Once we had the right venue we could have arranged a brilliant party. The venues available to us are excellent. We have a night club, school gym, tennis club, golf club, health club and hotels which cater to wedding parties. The graduates did report they would like to have dressed up ready for a glamorous party. Delivering this kind of party would have been much more ambitious. It would also have been much more rewarding. We could have used fund raising techniques to raise the money we needed to deliver the party.
My graduation party ideas would have been much more exciting if I had been more adventurous at the time.

The Disney Cars Movie and Party Ideas
The Disney Cars movie has inspired kids party ideas…lot’s of them. Lightning McQueen, the rookie race car, needs more experience on and off the track. He’s young and makes plenty of mistakes.
This is such a fun party theme because kids love cars! And McQueen is such a likable character. Party supplies are easy to find and there is even a great cake topper kit so you can make and decorate your own party cake. The film begins with Lightning preparing for the Piston Cup, one of the biggest races in the US. This first race ends up as a tie between McQueen and The King and a rowdy car named Chick Hicks. They must now have a rematch on a California track.
McQueen falls out of his race car trailer on the way to California and finds his way into a small town named Radiator Springs on Route 66. When he gets there he is pursued by the town’s Sheriff. During this chase, McQueen makes a mess of the small town’s roads. He is arrested and the next day there is a hearing in front of Doc Hudson, the town judge and an old racecar himself.
When the judge finds out McQueen is a racecar, he asks that the young racecar be released and charges be dismissed. Sally, a lawyer, objects since the roads are now in disrepair and need to be fixed. The Judge decides to free McQueen with the condition that he fix the roads before he can leave town.
McQueen is upset, but has no choice. He is followed everywhere by the Sheriff, Mater, and can’t escape. He soon learns that Doc Hudson is a three time Piston Cup winner who was kicked out of the race car scene after an accident. McQueen learns a valuable lesson in this sleepy little town. He finds out that friends are more important than racecar fame. He finds himself in love with Sally and she loves him right back.
The racecar trailer, Mack, comes back to find him and brings the media with him. McQueen finds himself back on the road to California and the race world. Come racing day, McQueen is feeling very confused. He wants to race, and he wants to go back to Radiator Springs.
With Doc Hudson on board as his race crew chief the tie breaking race begins. Chick Hicks begins to play dirty when McQueen takes the lead. Hicks bangs into The King, injuring him and sending him off the track. McQueen goes back to help The King while Chick drives on to win the race. Lightning pushes the King over the finish line.
Hicks may have won the race, but Lightning McQueen has won the day! He realizes the Piston Cup, is just an empty cup. Lightning returns to the small town of Radiator springs with his new friends, Doc Hudson and Sally. Bachelorette party ideas can be overwhelming and you need to decide which theme you wish to go with and make the best out of it. The first thing to consider is the preference of the bride to be. You want to make her last night as a single woman pleasurable and worthwhile. A bachelorette party is therefore very vital at least to bid farewell to the girl who is about to have a different status. The first of many bachelorette party ideas is to spend a day or even a night at a spa. Whichever the location, having relaxed time with your girlfriends is invaluable. At the spa, you can have facials, mud baths, pedicures, massages, saunas, manicures and others. You are going to be spoilt and you will enjoy every minute of it.
Makeovers are great bachelorette party ideas because the most important thing for girls is to look and feel beautiful and what a better time than now when a wedding is near. You can have a professional make up artist come to the party and give you the best looks you can possibly have. Another party idea that has a lot of popularity is doing some pottery at a local pottery studio. The girls will have so much while undertaking this practical activity. Make the pottery for the bride to be after inquiring what kind she would prefer in her new home. You therefore do not have to be limited by ideas because you can break the norm and go all out to have fun and make the bachelorette party as superior as possible.
You can also have sporty bachelorette party ideas and the following idea will have the bride to be entertained. It involves spending the day at a baseball field with friends. Your friends will enjoy hot dogs, pop corn, ice cream, cotton candy and a variety of drinks. Another idea that you can never go wrong with is going shopping. You can either do it in your home town or you can go to other places for a greater and bigger experience. While shopping, you can undertake several activities like visiting the local restaurants of the states you choose to visit and experiencing their culture. A favorite destination to visit is Las Vegas where you know you will not be disappointed. From the food to casinos, the party will surely not end.
Other great bachelorette party ideas include having a pajama party. The Bride to be and her girlfriends can have an awesome night in pajamas. This does not mean they go to bed because the party has just began. In the party, there will be activities like watching a great selection of movies, games, showering of party favors not to forget great food and drinks. There will be decorations just like a real party. Girls share a lot until they fall asleep and these experience will bring back past experiences like sleep overs. Ideas will continue to get better for bachelorette parties. They will live to remember the night with nostalgia.

Kids Party Checklist
Planning your child’s birthday party is never an easy task; there are just too many things to keep track of. Use this simple checklist to help you begin planning.
—–
4-6 weeks before your party
If you are planning entertainers, face-painters, bouncy castle hire etc, check out a list of local suppliers and contact to find out how much notice they will need. This may vary depending on the area in which you live, and the time of year you are choosing to have your party. Be prepared to book very early.
—–
3-4 weeks before your party
Pick the party date and time. Parties usually range from one and a half hours to three hours.
Book any outside services you require, such as entertainers, face-painters, bouncy castle etc, if you have not done so already.
Choose your party theme. Your child should enjoy doing this with you. If they have a particular favorite character this may be an obvious choice. Otherwise, your child could help choose by browsing the partyware themes pages with you.
Create the guest list. Let your child pick out the friends he or she wishes to invite. If you want to restrict the party to a particular number of friends, make sure that your child narrows down the list to this number. In any case, it may be advisable to review your child’s list to ensure that no child would feel unreasonable excluded (for example, if all the boys in your child’s class are invited, except one).
Order your party supplies, decorations, party favors, prizes for games etc. Be sure to order enough tableware for adults that will be attending too, and additional party bags and fillers for siblings of guests who may arrive.
—–
2-3 weeks before your party
Send the invitations. It is best to ask guests to RSVP to estimate how many children you may expect.
Decide on activities and games for the party.
Plan your menu. Are their any special dietary requirements? For a kids party, we recommend staying away from nuts all together.
Arrange for extra help on the day of the party from relatives or friends.
—–
1 week before the party
Order your cake from a supermarket or cake decorator if you are not baking your own.
Let brothers or sisters invite a special friend over for the day of the party.
Confirm booking of any entertainers or outside services.
—–
2-3 days before the party
Buy the food, drinks, sweets and treats for the party. If you have not already got them, don’t forget the candles.
Check batteries and film for the camera and/or camcorder.
Arrange to have balloons filled with helium to pick up the day of, or the day before the party.
If you are making your own, bake the cake.
If your child has a particular outfit they want to wear, make sure it’s ready to wear.
—–
1 day before the party
Pick up the cake from the cake decorator or supermarket, or finish decorating if you are making your own.
If a morning party, pick up helium-filled balloons and/or blow up non-helium balloons.
Prepare the party area by removing furniture, or breakable objects and decorate. (Indoor only, outdoor area is best left to the day of the party).
Prepare any food that can be made ahead of time.
—–
THE DAY OF THE PARTY
If a late-afternoon or night party, pick up the helium-filled balloons and/or blow up non-helium balloons.
If an outdoor party, decorate, and, if necessary, place balloons etc at the gate to direct guests to your house.
Prepare food and drinks that could not be made ahead of time.
Have your child ready and dressed one hour before the party.
Don’t forget to take plenty of photos or video to record the day. If at all possible, try to recruit someone to do this. You’ll be very busy with other party things that great photo opps will most likely be missed.
Enjoy the day and plan a relaxing treat for yourself after the party has finished.

Elevator Accidents
Although they may not be as common as vehicle accidents or construction site accidents, elevator accidents happen more often than people think. In fact, it is estimated that over 12,000 people were involved in elevator accidents the last year. It also reported that elevators and escalators kill approximately 30 people per year and injure over 17,000 people.
Causes of Elevator Accidents
Elevator accidents can arise from any number of malfunctions or careless maintenance. However, the most common causes of elevator accidents are:
· Mechanical malfunction of the pulley system allowing the elevator to “free fall” down the shaft
· Improper leveling that keeps the elevator from lining up correctly with the floor
· Asphyxiation from being trapped inside an elevator too long
· Accidental electrocution due to defective wiring in the elevator
· Becoming trapped between the elevator car and side wall
· Falls resulting from an open or exposed elevator shaft
While elevators must pass state inspections before they are put into use, elevators are not subject to federal regulations or supervision like other products. This increases the potential for serious injuries to elevator passengers, as well as to maintenance providers.
Responsible Parties
Depending upon the facts of the elevator accident, many different parties can potentially be at fault and held liable in court for injuries resulting from the accident. For example, if the cause was poor maintenance, the owner or service company responsible for maintaining the elevator could be held responsible. If the elevator malfunctioned due to a product defect, the product manufacturer may be held liable.
Recoverable Damages
When elevator accidents result in injury or death, the victim and his or her family may be entitled to recoup the following damages from the responsible party:
· medical expenses
· pain and suffering
· lost wages
In order to win these damages, it must be proved that the responsible party acted negligently, or failed to act with the prudence that a reasonable person would exercise under the same circumstances to prevent the accident.
What to Do if You Have Been in an Elevator Accident
If you gave been in an elevator accident, you should first contact the police and an elevator accident lawyer immediately in order to preserve the evidence at the accident scene and discuss your legal rights. An accurate inspection of the elevator will need to be performed and photographs will need to be taken of the elevator, all of the components and the elevator’s control room. If severe injury or death has resulted from an elevator accident, qualified experts will need to be called in to investigate the scene. Depending upon the nature of the accident, these experts could include:
· An elevator engineer
· An elevator safety expert
· A building management expert
· A fire or rescue expert
Since lawsuits involving elevators are extremely technical and equipment specific, please contact an experienced elevator accident lawyer to discuss your case.

Birthday Party Myths: Busted!
Are you planning a birthday party or thinking about it? While you’re deciding on the details for the celebration, take a look at these popular misconceptions about birthday parties. Here are some of the top birthday party myths and the truth behind them.
MYTH: If you add RSVP to your birthday invitations, you’ll soon know exactly how many people will be coming to the party.
THE TRUTH: Many people won’t bother to let you know. Maybe they don’t know what RSVP actually means, or they think they only have to let you know if they will NOT be attending. Sometimes people just get busy and forget. You can try to add something more specific like, “please respond with either an acceptance or regret”. It may help if you add that they should let you know by a specific date. But no matter what you do, be prepared to make some phone calls to those who haven’t responded, if you need an accurate head count.
MYTH: Everyone likes surprise parties.
THE TRUTH: Some people loved to be surprised by a party in their honor. But, it might trigger a panic attack in another. Don’t assume your guest of honor will be thrilled by an unexpected party, unless you know that person very well. Do they enjoy being the center of attention? Or is he or she the type that would shrink underneath the table at a restaurant if a group of waiters marched over singing “happy birthday”? If you think there’s a possibility the birthday guy or girl might feel ambushed instead of flattered, you can still plan a party. Just make sure you plan it with them.
MYTH: “Over the Hill” is a good theme for a party.
THE TRUTH: Sure, it’s fun to joke with someone about their age. And they may even seem to appreciate it. But many people are sensitive about milestone birthdays, even if they don’t show it on the surface. It’s a rare individual who doesn’t ever experience anxiety over aging. Instead of teasing the guest of honor about getting old, you can still highlight their milestone with a year you were born theme. Or have a retro party with music and decorations that reflect the years of his or her youth.
MYTH: Birthday party favors are just for kid’s parties.
THE TRUTH: Everyone loves a fun giveaway at the end of the party (even grown-ups). It’s a great way to thank your guests for sharing the celebration. Send them home with something inexpensive, thoughtful and useful. Personalized party favors can even include a message. Though, of course, they’re not necessary for a successful party, favors can be that little extra touch that tops off the celebration.
MYTH: If you want to put your guests in a party mood, add lots of confetti inside the invitations.
THE TRUTH: This may sound like a festive idea, and lots of people do it, but please don’t be one of them. Just picture it. Your potential guest opens the envelope, pulls out the invitation and unexpectedly, a bunch of confetti spills out all over everything. Instead of putting them in the party mood, they now have to scramble for the vacuum to clean up all the tiny little pieces of shiny mylar before the dog snacks on them.
MYTH: The more you spend, the better the party.
THE TRUTH: Just about everyone can remember a great party that was thrown together at the last minute. Drinks were served in plastic cups and food wasn’t much more than chips with dip. But what made that party memorable were the people. Of course, good food, lovely atmosphere and fantastic music can all add to the party. But they’re not the most important thing. So, if you’re on a budget, don’t skip the birthday party. Cut corners with costs, even pare down the guest list a little, but go out there and celebrate.
MYTH: Some people don’t want you to acknowledge their birthday.
THE TRUTH: Yes, there are those who feel uncomfortable if you make a big fuss over them. But that doesn’t mean that they really want you to forget them. Birthday celebrations come in all sizes. Find out what the special person in your life would like to do for their birthday. They might want a big party. Or they might rather spend a quiet night at a restaurant with close friends. Their birthday is an opportunity for you to let them know how much they mean to you every day.
Of course, the undeniable truth is that birthday parties are fun. So go ahead and plan a big bash, a surprise party, or quiet celebration. And guess what? Even if you throw an over the hill party, stuff your invitations with confetti and serve nothing more than pretzels and soda, it will still be a hit, if you do it with heart.
